Epilogue
Six months later
“She’s beautiful,” Bree said as she held London and Chase’s daughter, Bella, after her christening.
London hadn’t realized she was already pregnant when Bree had arrived in New Orleans nine months ago. Thank God, the in vitro fertilization had worked after all. Bree was so happy for her sister.
“Well, even though you’re her aunt, we couldn’t think of anyone else we’d like to be her godmother,” London said with a smile.
“I promise I will watch out for her always,” Bree replied, but before she could continue doting on her goddaughter, Bella was being taken out of her arms by yet another member of the Hart clan.
They’d left the church an hour ago, and the entire family had convened at the Hart ranch: Caleb and Addison with their beautiful children, Ivy and baby Ethan; Jada, who had flown in from San Francisco; Bree’s Aunt Madelyn and Uncle Isaac, who’d driven from Tucson; and Caleb’s sister, Rylee, and her husband, Amar, who had flown in from California with their young son. And last but not least, Bree’s cousin, Noah, and his wife, Chynna, the incredibly talented and famous pop singer, who came with their son, her entire entourage, and Chynna’s twin, Kenya, her husband, Lucas, and their twin girls.
Bree had never seen the house so full and lively and with so many Harts. Even her parents were getting along well. In the last few months, they’d been spending more time together. Bree wondered if a reconciliation was in their future.
Eventually, she snuck away for a few minutes of peace and quiet on the terrace. She sensed Grayson behind her even before she felt him circling his arms around her waist. “I bet you didn’t expect to have so many Harts all in one place, huh?” she asked, glancing behind her.
Grayson laughed. His deep throaty sound made Bree feel warm and tingly in her lower regions. “Actually, I enjoy that you’re part of a large family. It was always just me, Cameron, Sonya, and Mother.” His voice cracked, and Bree squeezed his arm. She knew how hard Julia’s death had been on Grayson. “So it’s nice to feel included,” Grayson finished.
Bree turned toward Grayson and wrapped her arms around his neck. “Well you are. You’re a part of this family now.”
“Oh yeah?” Grayson asked with a smirk. “Care to make it official?”
“What?” Bree was perplexed, but she didn’t get a chance to stay that way because Grayson pulled away from her and bent down on one knee. He opened a ring box to reveal a brilliant princess cut diamond ring cushioned inside. “Omigod!”
“Bree Hart, I know I’m not an easy man to love,” Grayson said, pulling the ring out of the box, “and I’ve tested your love for me. But I’ve been incredibly honored that you’ve given me a second chance to prove to you the man I can be. I’m just hoping and praying that today is the someday you’ll agree to be my wife. Bree, will you marry me?”
“Yes!”
Bree didn’t get another word out because Grayson was slipping the ring onto her finger and circling his arms around her as he planted kisses all over her face. “I love you, Bree. And I promise I’ll love you forever. You won’t ever regret giving me a second chance.”
“I love you, too, Grayson Wells, and I know without a doubt I’ll never regret a single day with you.”
