Foreword

Welcome to the second installment of our double feature, Bleak Midwinter. As mentioned in the previous book, this concept came about when considering our next winter anthology. I wanted to do something that would capture that eerie silence on a cold night, the isolation of snowy days, and the deep foreboding worry that spring may never come. After combing through submissions, two distinct versions of this idea came into fruition. A double feature was born, and now you hold the second chapter in your hands. While the first volume encompassed the dread found during the year’s darkest nights, this book offers a lighter fare. The stories are still Gothic at heart, but many carry a bit of hope, reminiscent of the sun returning home after long, frigid nights.

That being said, please feel free to review the Trigger Index we’ve provided for you at the end of the book. We hope you enjoy the conclusion to our collection of bleak midwinter tales.

Dreadfully Yours,

Cassandra L. Thompson
