Offline

Just because we live in an electronic and connected society, doesn't mean offline methods are no longer effective. Sometimes the best sales come from local areas and not worldwide sales. So be sure also to consider some offline methods of promotion to get your products noticed.

Branding and Identity

Have some nice business cards printed that you can include with each purchase or simply to give to people you meet. This can be an excellent way to get both new and repeat sales. It may be a good idea to have a nice logo designed to increase your promotions and have things look more professional.

You can go to your local Office Depot, Office Max or online stores like VistaPrints.com and get 500 business cards printed for less than $20, make sure to ask for their special coupon pricing.

Local Papers and Fliers

If you can afford it, consider taking out an ad in the local newspaper. Another option that can be a little cheaper is to print some fliers and then post them around town in heavily frequented areas such as the local coffee shop. Anything you print should include your contact information and the URL for your online store. If you are hanging fliers in a business, be sure to get the manager’s approval before posting.

Community Events

The best way to get local exposure is to sponsor events within the community. Offer to supply Free Jam, Jelly or Pickles for events in exchange for a mention. This is a great place to start for a small candle making business. Works best for many Church and other local similar community events.

Introductory Offers

Your homemade Jams and Jellies maybe the yummiest jams that are out in the market, but how would the customers know that? You need to give people a reason to choose yours over others. Competitive pricing is one option (I don’t recommend it), but you can also offer special deals.

Give a discount to first-time customers, holiday specials or clearance events for older stock. This way you get people interested, and you don't have to affect your profits long term by lowering your prices.

These are just some of the main options for promoting your jams and jelly. The methods of promotion are limited only by your imagination.
