The Official Federal Land Records Site
This site from the U.S. Department of the Interior contains over 5 million land title records, going all the way back to 1820. They can help you figure out when your relatives may have bought and sold land. (You can also check individual states’ land record sites!)
It may sound morbid, but this site and app have a huge database of tombstone images. You can even upload your own photos of tombstones to help connect with possible relatives!
Chronicling America
This website from the Library of Congress provides access to select digital newspaper pages from 1836-1922. Search by state, ethnicity, or keyword to see if your family name is in print!
