COMMENTS: Nine boats, six courses, and a whole lot of water. If you’re a fan of Wave Race, then this is the game for you. And it’s one you’re going to want to play with a buddy because the physics in this game—aqua physics—are so darned good that you can mess up an opponent simply by zipping close by him. This adds not only an extra layer of realism but a good helping of strategy as well. This is one water-racing game with depth. Also, borrowing a page out of the better car race games, all the boats can be fully customized. And did I mention there are a bunch of hidden tracks you can unlock by winning races?
Codes:
Go to the Name Entry screen and enter the following as player names.

Always Win: WINR. What fun is this? Truthfully, isn’t always winning the same as always losing? Heck no, winning is always better.

Duck Mode: (space) QAK
Mirror Courses: RRIM
Night Courses: (space) NIT
Special Hurricane Boat: HURR. Then go to the Select screen and choose any boat. No matter what racer you select, it will turn out to be the Hurricane when the game starts.
Unlimited Turbo: RUSH

Weird Fractal Course: FRAC. What’s a fractal? It’s a repeating shape. If you didn’t know this, then maybe it’s time you watched a little more PBS. Don’t ya know!
GAME NAME: VR POWERBOAT RACING
ESRB RATING: E for Everyone. Content suitable for those 6 years or older.
THEME: High-speed boat racing
PLAYERS: 1
DEVELOPED BY: Interplay Productions
PUBLISHED BY: VR Sports
COMMENTS: This high-speed boat racer from Interplay is a fast-paced spin through nine major courses and one hidden run, for a combined total of ten courses. By now water racing has become a staple and this single-player racer is a solid entry into the field. There are sixteen vastly different boats to choose from, like Catamarans and Monohulls, each with 3 different engine sizes. Jaded, seen-it-all experts may not find much new here, but that’s their problem. This game remains a staple in the field of video game boat racing.

GAME NAME: BRAVO AIR RACE
ESRB RATING: E for Everyone. Content suitable for those six years or older.
THEME: Airplane racing
PLAYERS: 1 or 2
DEVELOPED BY: Xing
PUBLISHED BY: THQ
COMMENTS: If Bravo Air Race were a car race game, it would rank as a middle-quality racer. However, these are planes and that has to count for something, right? Well, doesn’t it? The idea is to race the planes through a variety of “tracks,” including natural canyons and cities. The big feature, of course, is that you have your choice of planes. Classic planes. So, that has to count for something, as well. For all those airplane fans out there, this is the chance to strap into the cockpit of some very hot aircraft. But be warned, this is not an easy game. It’s not a simulator requiring tons of technical know-how, but it does take some getting used to. I can’t speak for the accuracy of the planes themselves. I’m assuming that jets go faster than propeller-driven planes, but that’s only my guess.
Code:
Bonus Planes: To access the F16 and Stealth jets, go to the Title screen and hold Right 1 and Left 2. Then press the Select button 20 (yes, 20!) times quickly. You’ll hear a confirmation sound if you entered the number correctly. Then go back to the Plane Select screen, and the F16 and Stealth will be available for play.
GAME NAME: RC STUNT COPTER
ESRB RATING: E for Everyone. Content suitable for those 6 years or older.
THEME: Flying
PLAYERS: 1 or 2
DEVELOPED BY: Shiny Entertainment
PUBLISHED BY: Interplay
COMMENTS: This is kind of a weird little game, but it is a lot of fun. The RC in the title means Radio Controlled. So, this one- or two-player game is basically a radio-controlled model helicopter. This is a game for anyone who has ever had a remote-controlled plane and crashed it within eight seconds of flight time and had to go home. It doesn’t matter how many times you crash in this game … there’s always another chance.
Your job in the game is to control the copter through training and then advanced courses to open up ever more kinds of copters. There are five levels to each of the progressively harder six stages, so there’s plenty to do in this game. Also, many of the challenges are very, very clever—like landing on a moving platform.
The really nice thing about this game is that it’s one that adults can enjoy, too. Bring this baby home and practice for a while, then challenge the nearest adult.
