blood.* Dignify him with a last battle and Partha strike him dead. It was he o son of Pandu who calumnied your inheritance and your years in the wilderness and whose wanton cruelty broke Krishna’s heart. Step up to him. Fate brings him just an arrow’s flight away. It is fate that brings him into the path of your necessary revenge. Fate has made him fight you and o Partha fate will now decide whether all your hopes will prosper or fail. O Partha strike down Dhrita·rashtra’s degenerate child as in the olden battle between gods and demons Indra struck down Jambha. With their leader dead at your feet his army will cave and all this enmity will be purged. Cut out its vile root.
