ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Gary Westfahl, now an Adjunct Professor at the University of La Verne, is the author, editor, or co-editor of 23 books about science fiction and fantasy, including the Hugo-nominated Science Fiction Quotations: From the Inner Mind to the Outer Limits (2005), Islands in the Sky: The Space Station Theme in Science Fiction Literature (1996, 2009), The Other Side of the Sky: An Annotated Bibliography of Space Stations in Science Fiction, 1869-1993 (2009), and The Spacesuit Film: A History, 1918-1969 (2012). He has also written hundreds of articles and reviews for various journals, magazines, websites, and reference works, and has appeared in two nationally televised documentaries. In 2003 he received the Science Fiction Research Association’s Pilgrim Award for his lifetime contributions to science fiction and fantasy scholarship.
