A state of emergency declaration has been issued in several U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Greensboro, Miami, Memphis, Montgomery, and New York.
It is estimated that 150,000 people are infected in the United States alone. Centers for Disease Control director Samuel Hines has gone on record, saying that this virus has the potential to spreading to half a million infections in the next twenty-four to forty-eight hours if drastic measures are not taken.
The Surgeon General, Loretta Connelly has stated that in major cities, “the epidemic is out of control and if we don’t get control of it now, we will experience a global outbreak. We need support from the White House to hire a round-the-clock team of specialists, epidemiologists, and lab and infection experts. We need more people working on this now.”
Confirmed deaths linked to the “Reenu-You Virus” stand at 89,005.
The President is scheduled to give a press conference about the outbreak this evening.
