CHAPTER 10

(12:15PM): Laura

Marshall Swift followed the deputies back to their temporary office in the administrative suite.

“We’re here investigating the death of Malcolm Eastwick and realized that you were among the workshop participants,” Laura said. “We thought that we should make contact with you.”

“I’d like to help you, but I never met Eastwick. From what I gather, he had an unsavory reputation.”

“What have you heard?”

“Nothing specific, but some women regarded him as a predator.”

Detective Sanchez nodded. “We’re having trouble tracking his movements. We know he arrived here sometime Saturday, but we haven’t talked to anyone who saw him before his body was found Sunday morning.”

“He was a therapist. Maybe he was seeing clients.”

“Any idea where we could find his client schedule, if there was one?”

“The obvious,” Kate said. “His phone or pocket planner.”

“Which we didn’t find.”

“The office might know.”

“They claim to know nothing.”

“What about the cloud? Did Eastwick have a website?”

Sanchez turned to O’Malley. “That’s another thing that Bruno can help us with.”

“Eastwick probably used scheduling software to keep track of his appointments. If you find his laptop, you can access his schedule and his contacts.”

“We found his laptop,” Sanchez said. “The coroner’s investigators are trying to get into it.”
