Slow Food USA promotes artisanal American cider and heritage apples and pears.
A note on hard cider and perry producers: Because of differing state alcohol and tax laws, it is currently difficult for many cidermakers to sell hard cider direct to retail consumers by courier delivery. Also, most artisanal hard-cider wineries are small in size and rely on local and regional sales. Your best bet is to locate a cidery in your area that sells retail, or to inquire at your local liquor outlet or beer store whether it can find and carry a selection of good-quality regional hard ciders. Some of the resources included under the “Websites and Blogs” section above offer information and lists of cideries throughout the U.S. and in Europe.
