* Many modern Jews believe that Judaism holds that people are basically good. They believe this because many Jews have adopted Left-wing values, because many Jews think that Judaism usually believes the opposite of Christianity, and because the revered Dutch-Jewish teenager Anne Frank wrote in her diary, the most famous piece of writing to come out of the Holocaust, that she believed people are basically good. But the Torah states that “every inclination of man’s heart is evil from his youth” (Genesis 8:21), and all of Judaism and its laws are predicated on the notion that man needs constant self-discipline to be good.
