Steelers embassies in the form of bars can be found throughout the Baltimore area for transplanted Pittsburghers. One of the most well-known havens is Todd Conner’s in Fells Point.
It is located right in the heart of Ravens country but defers to the Steelers when they are on TV even if that rankles some of the regulars.
“For a Steelers-Ravens games this is one of the hottest bars to be at,” said Douglas Considine, a manager and bartender at Todd Conner’s. “As a bartender, I’m part sociologist and it’s one of the most fascinating things I’ve seen in my life. It’s so insanely complicated.”
Considine said games between the fierce AFC North rivals usually draw about 51 percent Steelers supporters and 49 percent Ravens fans. That makes for an interesting study and contrast between two fan bases that don’t care for one another.
Todd Conner’s is a solid alternative for Steelers fans if they don’t have tickets to a game in Baltimore. Imagine half the bar going nuts when the Steelers make a big play and vice versa for the Ravens and it’s a pretty intense scene.
The charged atmosphere can’t match being at the game. But Todd Conner’s gives those who are invested in arguably the best rivalry in the NFL a chance to experience the intensity of it.
