Shhh, listen! There’s an everyday noise you can hear right now that’s part of a top-secret government experiment. What is the noise, and what experiment are they conducting?
5-MINUTE PROMPT:
“Can you repeat that?” Isolate two sounds happening in your environment. Write a scene where a couple tries to have a serious conversation, but the noises keep getting in the way.
10-MINUTE PROMPT:
A group of teenagers enter an abandoned house on a moonless night. They can’t see much, but they can hear things. In fact, the sounds that you hear around you right now are the sounds they hear inside the dilapidated house. Describe the sounds and what happens when they walk through the house.
20-MINUTE PROMPT:
A man suffers from misophonia, a condition where hearing certain noises can trigger anger and other negative emotions. One of the noises you can hear right now is causing this man to become quite irritable. Write a stage play starring this feisty fellow. Include a monologue where he breaks the fourth wall and speaks directly to the audience about his ire.
