1-MINUTE PROMPT:
You’re a freelance journalist and you need ideas for stories. Look at what’s around you and use what you find as inspiration for a story idea that you can pitch to a media outlet.
5-MINUTE PROMPT:
Find a person in your environment. If there’s not an actual person nearby find one on TV, in a magazine, or on a billboard. Create a news story about that person for tonight’s evening news.
10-MINUTE PROMPT:
All kinds of things are happening around you. They might be as compelling as an ambulance racing by or as uneventful as a dog taking a nap. Create a series of Twitter updates giving the blow-by-blow account of everything that occurs in the next 10 minutes.
20-MINUTE PROMPT:
A news reporter sticks a microphone in your face. Write a scene where you’re being interviewed about what you’re doing right now. Then grab the mic and interview her. What do you ask that gets her to reveal a secret about herself live on the air?
