1-MINUTE PROMPT:

Pause and reflect on a worry you currently have, even if it’s as minor as wondering whether your parking meter has run out. When you think about this worry what sensations happen in your body? Write about them.

5-MINUTE PROMPT:

Officials from the Department of Concerns and Worries are here for their annual audit. Make a complete inventory list of your current worries and concerns. If the list seems flimsy, feel free to add the worries of your friends and family. Give each worry on the list a title and a one-sentence summary.

10-MINUTE PROMPT:

Look around. Find something in your environment that could cause you, or someone else, to worry. Make this worry the primary concern of your main character. Write about this character’s session with a therapist as they discuss this worry.

20-MINUTE PROMPT:

Right now, think of a teeny, tiny concern you currently have. Something like chipped nail polish or a pen that doesn’t work anymore. Imagine now that this barely there concern is actually a huge problem for someone else. In fact, this tiny concern of yours is a life-or-death situation for your character. Write about this person’s tenuous struggle.
