1-MINUTE PROMPT:
“Party’s over, pal” is never something you want to hear. Write about a mishap that caused a party or event to go sideways.
5-MINUTE PROMPT:
Remember what happened at that work party? Or should I say, who could forget? Write about it from a point of view that’s not your own, whether it’s the imagined perspective of another person who was actually there or that of an omniscient narrator.
10-MINUTE PROMPT:
Gift giving can be a tricky thing. Recall a gift you received that was inappropriate, misguided, or just totally off the mark. Write about it from the imagined point of view of the gift giver. Try to figure out what mental leaps made this person think the gift was a good idea.
20-MINUTE PROMPT:
You know that thing where you’re at a party making small talk and you say something that you immediately wish you could take back? Yeah, that. (Insert cringing here.) Think of a time when you blurted something out that you wish you hadn’t said. Use that as a jumping-off point for a freestyle, stream-of-consciousness dialogue scene between two characters.
