1-MINUTE PROMPT:
“Here lies Lianne. She always got enough sleep.” Parental types are infamous for doling out advice, not all of which should be rigidly heeded. Think of some advice a parent or older person once gave you and use it to craft an epitaph.
5-MINUTE PROMPT:
Ever receive some questionable advice about dating? Maybe it was about playing hard to get. Maybe it was convincing you to make a grand gesture. Whatever it was, write about it in a scene at a train station where a character takes the advice you got and has some unexpected results.
10-MINUTE PROMPT:
Maybe you don’t realize it, but you dole out advice from time to time. Maybe it’s tips about folding laundry, or maybe it’s about finding a good mechanic. Think of the most recent advice you gave to someone then use it in an excerpt from a romantic comedy where the main character is a life coach.
20-MINUTE PROMPT:
Whether it was a performance review or a sidebar from your boss, you once were given some advice at work. Was it helpful? Enraging? Both? Use the advice to write dialogue for a stage play about an employee. Create at least two changes of scenery.
