INFLUENCE OF LANGUAGE BY ABSOLUTE NUMBERS

Professors Louis-Jean Calvet and Alain Calvet created an index that ranks languages. The list compiles data for the 137 languages spoken by more than five million people. Ten criteria are used and the Calvets’ Web site contains a very detailed explanation of how they converted numbers into a system of points that would allow for comparison.
