Pink Panty Pulldown Punch

Makes a vat (about 58 six-ounce servings)

Nowhere is this punch more famous than in our VIP tent on Madison Avenue during the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party. Sip with caution—it’s easy drinking and doesn’t taste like alcohol at all. This one will catch up with you quickly!

• Punch
• One 1-liter bottle light rum (quality does not matter here)
• Two 12-ounce cans pink lemonade concentrate
• ½ cup fresh lime juice
• ½ cup maraschino cherry juice
• 1 case (twenty-four 12-ounce cans) beer (cheap beer, like Bud Light, works best)
• Maraschino cherries and lime rounds, to float in the punch

• Rim Coating (Optional)
• Pink sanding sugar, for edging the cups
• Lime wedges
• Ice cubes (see page 252)

For the punch: Mix the rum, lemonade concentrate, lime juice, and cherry juice in a large container or punchbowl until the lemonade concentrate dissolves. Add the beer and stir to combine. Float some cherries and lime rounds on top of the punch.

For coating (optional): Spread the sugar in a saucer. Rim the outer edge of each glass with lime and twist the rim in the sugar to coat. Set aside to dry.

Add ice cubes to each glass. Ladle the punch over the ice, being careful not to disturb the sugar rims. Garnish with cherries.
