Give the silver to Aaron and his sons. It will buy back those Israelites.

Numbers 3:48

Sinning is as easy as falling off of a bike. You don’t have to sin, but it is your tendency; in fact, we all have that tendency. That’s why God says that no one has God’s approval, not one person is righteous, and everyone has turned away and fallen short of the glory of God (see Rom. 3:10–12). And so a price has to be paid to get your life back, just like a ransom to a kidnapper. Sin kidnaps you and puts you into slavery and bondage to itself. Sin calls out your name and says, “Come on, I will make you happy.” But as soon as you turn to it, it grabs you and chains you down, making it almost impossible to get free.

But there’s a way out of those chains, and it is called redemption, the ransom for your soul. When you accept Jesus as your Lord, your ransom is paid and you are set free. That means you’re not only free from the penalty of sin but free from its bondage as well. Sin doesn’t have power over you anymore (see Rom. 6:14). So you don’t have to keep saying yes to it, giving in to it, or being weak because of it. God set you free. He doesn’t save you just to give you a one-way ticket to heaven but to set you free. The only reason you continue to struggle with the same sin you fought before your redemption is because you choose to go back to it, like an abused wife goes back to her abusive husband. It’s not right or good. It makes no sense; you’ve been set free, so why do you return to the place of torment? You don’t have to! Turn to God and be free.
