The Lord your God is testing you to find out if you really love him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deuteronomy 13:3
When temptations come at you like gunfire in a battle, don’t be surprised. There are gonna be times when your life will be free from temptation, and those are sweet times. But those times when the going gets tough will be used to teach you to trust Jesus completely. Don’t give up or condemn yourself for being so easily tempted to sin; after all, you are just a beginner in this life of holiness. You aren’t expected to be immune to temptation. But what you need to do is trust these words: “If you live by what I say, you are truly my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31–32). According to Jesus, all you need for peace is obedience. No matter what comes at you, obey. No matter how absurd obedience might seem, obey. Obey, obey, obey, and he promises you that you’ll know truth, and miraculously that truth will set you free.
Is there something you want to be free from? If something plagues you and is making your life miserable, then you’ve just found the answer. Obey God and you will be set free.
