On the seventh day they got up at dawn. They marched around the city seven times. . . . When they went around the seventh time, the priests blew their rams’ horns. Joshua said to the troops, “Shout, because the Lord has given you the city!”
Joshua 6:15–16
Are you facing a battle that you have to fight? Do you have a big trial in front of you that you aren’t sure how you’re gonna overcome? Then take a look at God’s Word for help. Look at the life of the people of Israel. In almost every case all Israel did was go through the motions of the battle while God himself did all the actual fighting. When you get up, get going, and go through the motions of something that you’ve got to do, then God will do what he does: win the battle.
When you see something that has to be done, you can’t sit on your couch waiting for God to do his thing. You are called to participate, like the Israelites walking around Jericho. You have to move and trust that when you get moving, God does miracles. Why would God repeatedly ask the Israelites to step out in faith and do things that ultimately he himself would do for them? It was a test of their faith. Moving, acting, doing what God calls the God Girl to do proves that you trust and believe in him. You have to know that God does the work through you, but he works through you when you start to work. So even if the job ahead of you seems ridiculous or scary, get up and get going so that you can see the hand of God at work.
