Joshua waged war with all these kings for a long time.
Joshua 11:18
When your enemies are relentless and just won’t back down, don’t be so quick to freak out. Obviously it’s no fun to be attacked and made fun of. It’s no pleasure cruise to have enemies, but when you’ve looked for peace, when you’ve loved them and nothing has changed, when you’ve humbled yourself and done things God’s way rather than your way and they still are after you, you might want to consider that their aggression might be part of God’s plan. God doesn’t want to hurt you, but he does want to teach you.
We always have something to learn in the trials of life, and this situation is no exception. What will you take from this relentless enemy of yours? How are you going to grow in faith instead of in anger and bitterness? Find out what reaction to your trials pleases God instead of pleasing your flesh. When you believe that God lets mean people in your life for a reason, you take away their power to hurt you and instead allow God to shape you. So don’t be afraid of your enemy, but trust God to show you the path of righteousness in how you react to them.
In this life you’re gonna have enemies. You’re gonna run into people who hate you and people whose goal it is to punish you for whatever bothers them, but take heart: God is still God and no one, not even a mean person, can take away his power in your life.
