The battle isn’t yours. It’s God’s.
2 Chronicles 20:15
Do you ever feel the need for vindication—to defend or justify yourself to others? Sometimes people get you wrong. They misunderstand you or they lie about you. But what do you do next?
Vindication is your attempt to fight the battle yourself, to fix things and to prove yourself to everyone who has you wrong. But God never asked you to vindicate yourself. The obsession to prove to other people that they’re wrong and you’re right is never an act of faith. When you say to yourself, “I have to explain myself, and they have to listen,” you don’t sound like our Lord. Jesus never fought to prove himself to human beings. If they misunderstood him, he left it to God to do the correcting. When you see that someone is wrong or misunderstanding you, you’ve got to let them have their opinion. The God Girl has to trust God to intervene where he’s gonna intervene, and then she has to refuse to criticize his creation by complaining about people. Her job at this point is prayer, not judgment. This means that you have to remain calm and let people misunderstand you. What they think doesn’t define you, so don’t get all up in arms. Your job is to stay obedient and just keep on walking like Jesus walked, in faith and trust, knowing the battle isn’t yours—it’s God’s.
