I went out with a few men without telling anyone what my God had inspired me to do for Jerusalem.
Nehemiah 2:12
When God gives you a vision for your future or your purpose, you don’t have to share it with everyone in order to make it more real. Sometimes your service to God will go unannounced and your devotion won’t be seen or understood by anyone. You don’t need to brag about the vision you’ve been given or explain why you are doing what you are doing. If it’s really a vision from God, then it’s gonna happen, and if not, then you won’t have made a fool of yourself. As you spend more time in the presence of God, you will find yourself with all the encouragement you need to do what you are being asked. His approval is the only approval you need.
A lot of visions are meant to be shared, but only at the right time. Visions have to be tested. They aren’t served to you on a silver platter, but most often they are going to take some effort on your part, and a lot of times that effort is its own reward. When you need another person to validate your vision, you are looking to people who don’t have the same relationship with God that you do and who haven’t seen the same vision you have seen. So act as you are called to act and say what you are called to say, but don’t be too quick to explain that you are sure God has called you to do the things you do.
