The Lord is waiting to be kind to you.
He rises to have compassion on you.
The Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all those who wait for him.
Isaiah 30:18
Y ou are tired, exhausted, and running on empty. Have you ever thought about why? Does your day start with prayer or a rush to get out the door? Are you waiting each morning at the Father’s feet to find out what he wants you to do today? The Lord waits for you to come to him—how long have you kept him waiting? Fatigue is a fact of life. Living well requires work, but not always the kind of work the world pushes off on us. Rush from here to there, join this group, take this class, do this thing, and suddenly your life is anything but peaceful. But what’s worse is you have no time to wait on God. You have too much to do to wait. And you start to get into the habit of doing everything yourself. You become a “take charge” kind of girl, and suddenly God is left out of the equation.
If your life is overbooked, then unbook yourself. Cut back. Do less. If you don’t have time to spend alone with God each day, then you are too busy. Period. Nothing is so important that it has to be done at the expense of spending time waiting to hear from God. The God Girl takes charge of her calendar and doesn’t let it take charge of her. She knows that doing things isn’t as important as being in God’s presence, so she makes room in her life for that. Nothing is so important that you can’t say no to it, except the call of God on your life. If you are exhausted, then it’s time to reassess your priorities and to find a way to give the things you believe are important a more important place in your life.
