Search for the Lord and live!
Amos 5:6
S earch for me and live,” God says to you (Amos 5:4). Have you strayed from God? Done wrong in his eyes? Go back to him and live. When you look at some of the ways God punishes sin, you might think he’s dangerous and not to be trusted. Thinking about all the wrath he has poured out on the earth can be scary. But the message that keeps repeating itself throughout the entire Bible is God’s love for his people even when they mess up. Even when you mess up, he still loves you and offers you a way out: “Search for me and live.”
If your life is in a dark place, if you feel dead inside and don’t know what to do, turn around and go to God to live. When you risk leaving the things of this world in your rearview mirror and heading as fast as you can toward God, you risk pure bliss. The way to get your life back on track is not hiding things under the rug but bringing them into the light so that you are free to run unencumbered back to him. Don’t worry about not being prepared or needing to get things right first—his love has no prerequisite. Know that whatever the condition of your heart today, you can go back to him and live.
