The Lord Almighty is my strength.
He makes my feet like those of a deer.
He makes me walk on the mountains.
Habakkuk 3:19
G od can and will be your strength. He will give you the ability and the power to do hard things if you will just trust him. God has given you a promise, and that is that he will give you strength and feet like those of a deer and help you walk on mountains (see Hab. 3:19). Climbing a mountain isn’t easy. There are brambles, loose rocks, and crevices. Your feet can get stuck and you can trip, skin your knees, and hurt your hands. Your body can be tormented by climbing up the mountains that fill your life. But if you are only willing to let him, he will help you to leap across large crevices, to climb swiftly without faltering, and to rise to mountain peaks where you can see the world from a totally new perspective.
Are you tired of being lost in the valley, unable to see the open sky above or the lay of the land beyond? Do you want the freshness of the mountaintop, the rush of the climb, and the protection of feet as sure as a deer’s? Then pour everything into loving the one who loves you. Refuse to find your hope anywhere else. Walk away from things and people who control you. Turn your life over to the God who saves. Dig into his Word, beg him for his presence, and vow to serve him and him alone for the rest of your life, and you will have feet like a deer as you climb higher and higher out of the valley that surrounds you. Never fear, even if you walk through the dark valley of death, but turn to him and know that he will protect you and make your way straight. He will smooth out the rough patches and effortlessly give you the ability to overcome any treacherous way you may find yourself on.
