So I tell you to stop worrying about what you will eat, drink, or wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothes?

Matthew 6:25

Ever heard a little kid whining to his parents? Little kids fuss and complain when things don’t go like they want them to. It’s their way of letting their parents know they’re unhappy or anxious. You might think that a little complaining about your life is just your expression of your feelings or a cry for help, but it’s more than that: it’s saying you need to get your own way, and it is a pathway to sin. See, when you whine and complain, you point out the bad stuff and start to analyze it. You end up reliving the pain over and again and imagining how much harder it is going to get, and that leads to worry. And when you worry, you make decisions without God because you don’t trust him to work in your life. Worrying denies the power of the God you claim to worship. That’s why worry is sin.

Jesus never worried about anything. He never stressed or complained, because he was never trying to get his own way—he only wanted what God wanted. You will win over worry when you decide that you don’t want anything more than what God wants for you. And you have exactly that. If God wanted you to have more, he would have given it to you. If he thought you were prepared for more, he would make it happen. But what you have right now, today, is what you need. And your situation, your problem, or your lack is never too much for God to handle. A wise girl knows this, and so she trusts that “God’s will be done” is the best way to look at life. Don’t let worry define you, but define yourself by your faith!
