You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes to you. Then you will be my witnesses to testify about me in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
Acts 1:8
When Jesus was arrested, all the men who followed him ran off like scared little boys. They went from following a rock star to following a common criminal, and it freaked them out. A lot of them started to question how he could die if he really was the Son of God. They hid out and tried to figure out what to do next. But then something changed, and those scared boys suddenly became brave and fearless men. What happened? They saw Jesus, that’s what. Before Jesus came back to life, these guys were scared and hiding, trying to figure out where they got it wrong. But once they saw the risen Jesus, they were convinced he was God, and from then on nothing could stop them.
As a God Girl you have to become convinced that Jesus is who he said he was. Nothing in you can be afraid of being associated with him, like Peter was. When things look bad, when God’s Word seems to be failing, the God Girl doesn’t give up on him. She doesn’t turn tail and run, but she stands strong and fearless because she has seen the risen King and given him her full allegiance.
Millions who have gone before you have decided that they would serve Christ no matter what happened. Take a look at Peter, the scared one who denied Christ three times (see Matt. 26:69–75). Now all of a sudden he’s filled with the Holy Spirit and talking to everyone about Jesus, like a totally different guy. When Jesus becomes real to you and you see your life start to change because of his presence in it, your bravery grows and you want to tell everyone about him. The book of Acts is a good example of this. Notice how the early believers loved and took care of each other and how nothing, not even the threat of death, could derail them from their mission to tell the world about Jesus.
