Clearly, Christ’s love guides us. We are convinced of the fact that one man has died for all people. Therefore, all people have died. He died for all people so that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for the man who died and was brought back to life for them.
2 Corinthians 5:14–15
If people aren’t better for having known you, then you aren’t loving them like you should. Don’t freak—this isn’t an accusation but is just something for you to process.
It’s an honor and a huge responsibility, but because Christ lives in you, your very presence can and should change lives. Jesus’ healing power was so strong that strangers only had to touch his clothes to be healed (see Mark 5:25–34). Even if your faith is as small as a mustard seed (see Matt. 17:20), imagine what you can do with his Spirit inside you. Your very presence can become the hands and feet of Christ in the lives of the people you are around. Live each day and love each person as if the love of Christ in you can completely change their lives, because it will if you will only love them as he loves them.
So care enough to get involved, to say something, to risk embarrassment and even rejection. Put your God above yourself and reach out to a dying world. Be the light on the hill; don’t hide yourself so those stumbling around in the dark can’t see. Speak God’s truth to them. Lift them up when they fall, and assume the position that Christ assumed: the position of humility and meekness. Refuse to be the needy one, because you have all you need in him, but be the one they lean on, the one who loves them and directs their minds upward. Your presence can be a blessing when you make Christ’s life and mission your focus. Are people better for having known you? If you aren’t sure, study God’s Word and find out how he wants you to love a dying world.
