You were taught to change the way you were living. The person you used to be will ruin you through desires that deceive you.
Ephesians 4:22
How much have you changed since you got saved? When you look at who you were before you knew Christ, what do you see? What problems, what sins, what issues did he save you from? And what things in your life have you sacrificed for him?
As a God Girl you are taught to change the way you were living pre-Christ. According to God’s Word, one reason is because the person you used to be will ruin you with all its deceitful desires for the things you used to love. When you became a God Girl, you became a new person, completely different from the old you. Some of your bad habits dropped off immediately. But some things you didn’t let go of so easily. Some things seemed either too insignificant to worry about or too powerful to overcome. But either way, you can get rid of those things that control you. You can be free from their bondage, and you have to be. You have to change the way you live so that it’s consistent with the Word of God. If you find part of your life that’s inconsistent, then you have to change that today or it’ll be your ruin. You can’t be deceived by the things of this world like you used to be in the past.
If you’re willing to look honestly into your life, then sit before God and ask him if there’s anything in you that needs to be kicked out or any allegiance or affection that is lying to you. Then when you see it, get rid of it immediately. Walk away and never look back. If you want to live in the freedom of Christ, then let go of the chains that bind you to this world and become the new person you were taught to be (see Eph. 4:24).
