Before the world began, God planned to send Jesus Christ to die on the cross to save you from your sin so that you could be his own. Your sin doesn’t surprise God. He isn’t shocked when you fail; he knew you would, just like he knew all of us would. Knowing all along that his Son would have to die for our mistakes and bad choices, he created the earth and all of humanity in order to show his kindness.
Never underestimate how much God loves you. He loved you enough to bring you into this world even though he knew you would fail. He knew you would sin against him, but he also knew how much he was willing to pay for you. God’s kindness ought to be your inspiration, your hope. You are never a lost cause—never! Your sinfulness is nothing new. Millions before you have sinned just as badly, if not worse, and have been forgiven. God didn’t save you because you were perfectly holy—he saved you because he is holy.
