Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that has God’s approval.
2 Timothy 3:16
G od’s Word: good for living or just good for your soul? You trust God and read his Word, but could he really expect you to live that way? To turn the other cheek when someone hits you? To love the people who hate you and hurt you? To die to self and say no to the things you really, really want? Surely God doesn’t mean for you to live your life as if all of the Bible applies to your modern world. After all, you aren’t a saint. Things are different now. Your situation is unique. The Bible is good to read and meditate on, but you’ve gotta live and you’ve gotta protect yourself. Right?
Yeah, some of the stuff he asks seems to go against every ounce of self-protection you have. And that is exactly why it has to be done. If his Word is to be considered true, it has to be considered true at every point. All of it is not only useful but essential for your life as a God Girl. You can’t pick and choose which parts of your life you apply it to.
At any point that you are unwilling to make the Word of God a part of your everyday life, you have crossed over into sinville. No matter how risky following his Word sounds, no matter how hard it may be, it’s gotta be done. You can’t just decide that certain commands don’t apply to you; that’s just an excuse to disobey. Forgiveness of sin is not for those who refuse to obey God’s Word but for those who want to obey but don’t succeed at it. Learn what pleases the Lord and do it, and your life will be full of faith, hope, and love. When you mess up and get it wrong, fess up and then thank him for his kindness and his quick forgiveness.
