Grow in the good will and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 3:18

Everyone God touches changes. If your life isn’t changing, then you haven’t given it over to him. Once you meet face-to-face with the Creator of the universe, you are no longer the same. Each time you meet him you soften, you learn, you gain wisdom, self-control, and strength. Each day you grow and become more like Jesus Christ himself.

Is your life changing? Do you have encounters with God through his Word that shape you and rub off your rough edges? Staying the same should never be the goal of the God Girl. A lot of girls have no desire to grow and to mature, but the God Girl knows that change is a crucial part of spiritual growth. A plant that stops growing doesn’t live, and no girl who has stopped growing is taking her life from the branch (see John 15:4; James 2:26). Growth, including even your daily perseverance in good times and bad, is a public and private reminder of your salvation.

Do you want to conquer life, to conquer your sin and weaknesses, to overcome challenges, and to gain the strength to do more than you’ve ever done before? When you want that, you have taken the first step to maturity. Accepting the status quo doesn’t help anyone, but an irresistible thirst to go deeper proves not only your spiritual maturity but your emotional maturity as well.

Grow like a weed. Cling to the branch, accept its life-giving power, and grow as if your life depends on it, because it does. If God is changing you, then thank him, embrace the future and his hope, and let go of the old girl and welcome the new one—the new and improved you!
