My husband of 60 years, Ted Brusaw, passed away on August 7, 2015, and didn’t get to see his last two historical novels in print. Ted’s other published novels continue to attract readers. As I greet his last work with a smile, I know that somewhere, Ted is smiling, too.
Barbara Brusaw
It was challenging and fun to work with Ted Brusaw writing this historical novel that celebrates the momentous trip of discovery by Lewis and Clark. Ted was a master of research and expression—a successful writer with many admirable qualities. This book is dedicated to his memory and to the talented members of Wright Writers of Dayton who gave us months of critique, encouragement, and enthusiasm.

“We were now about to penetrate a country at least two thousand miles in width, on which the foot of civilized man had never trod. The good or evil it had in store for us was for experiment yet to determine, and these little vessels contained every article by which we were to subsist and defend ourselves.”

“The first white men of your people who came to our country were named Lewis and Clark. They brought many things that our people had never seen. They talked straight. These men were very kind.”
