Common Uses
Obesity
Hydroxycitric acid, also called HCA, is a product extracted from the rind of the tamarind citrus fruit of the Garcinia cambogia tree. HCA suppresses hunger in people and helps prevent the body from turning carbohydrates into fat by inhibiting the ATP-citrate lysase enzyme. HCA may be useful in pets as part of an obesity treatment program.
The recommended dosage is 500 mg 3 times daily.
HCA is currently available in one supplement (NutriWeight Management, Rx For Pets).
