Chapter 31

Jameson’s alarm pulled me from the blissful dark. He groaned, then he rolled out of bed and wandered into the bathroom. I debated joining him, but I wasn’t really ready to get out of bed yet.

Orion’s hand slipped over my hip as he pressed his body to mine. His erection pressed against my backside, presenting infinite possibilities. “Are you feeling better?” He murmured as he nuzzled my ear.

I giggled, pressing against his erection. “Well, if I wasn’t, I am now.”

He laughed as he pulled me onto my back, then moved over me. “Good.” He pressed his lips to mine as his hands slid up my thighs. He settled between my legs, moaning in ecstasy as he eased inside me. “I swear this is the best feeling in the world.” He groaned as he pushed deeper.

My breathing quickened as my eyes met his gorgeous, blue gaze. His hazy eyes were aroused, and the look he was wearing drove my hunger. My fingers slipped through his silky hair as our eyes remained locked. I pressed my lips to his, kissing him hungrily.

He began to move, thrusting deep before pulling back. I moved with him, enjoying every second of his touch. I pushed on his shoulder, forcing him to roll. I settled over him, running my hands over his chest as I did. I moved against him, relishing in the feeling that was consuming me. Tingling sensations washed over me, taking my breath away. My eyes locked with his, and his eyes were wild with desire.

His mouth opened as if he wanted to say something, then he quickly clamped it shut as if he thought better of it.

“What is it, Orion?” I cooed sweetly. I leaned in and pressed my lips to his in a gentle kiss. I immediately straightened and continued to thrust against him, chasing the feeling.

“Nothing,” he whispered breathlessly as his fingers dug into my hips.

“Nothing ... are you sure?” I murmured as I rode him harder.

His breathing was labored as if he was fighting with everything that he had not to let his body take over. His eyes betrayed him ... he had something to say.

“Spit it out, handsome.” I leaned in and nipped at his lips. “I know you have something to say.” I moaned as the feeling overwhelmed me, washing over me in waves. I continued to move against him despite my release ... it was his turn to surrender.

He clenched his eyes shut and groaned. “I love you, Dorian. I love you, and I would choose you.” He spoke quickly as he lost control, spilling his release.

I smiled as I leaned down and pressed my lips to his. I pulled back slightly, and our eyes locked. “I love you too. I would never make you choose, Orion.” I moved off him and settled on the edge of the bed. “I don’t belong with people who would force me to choose and neither do you.”

He moved up behind me, kissing my shoulder gently as he did. “They are still your people, Dorian.”

I scoffed as I stood. “They are yours too, but I don’t see you joining them.”

He smiled wryly. “I’m not a pureblood either.”

I scowled, turning away. “That shouldn’t matter. I’m going to shower. I need to get ready for the night.”

He collapsed back on the bed. “I’m going back to sleep for a couple hours.”

I continued into the bathroom. Jameson was still in the shower, so I joined him. I wrapped my arms around his solid body, giving him a gentle squeeze. “What are your plans for the night?”

He shrugged. “The community leaders are calling a meeting, demanding answers. I will probably be there helping with crowd control as will most of the police force.”

I scoffed. “What answers do they want?”

He sighed. “They want to know who is being appointed executioner since the last one bit it. They want to feel safe in their community considering there is a rampaging vampire on the loose.”

“I guess that makes sense,” I muttered.

I started to wonder if Ezekiel’s plans included going to this little meeting. Henry would probably be there as well as Gideon and Cassius ... it would be a lovely evening if that was the case.

Jameson turned toward me and looked down at me. “Are you okay?”

I forced a smile. “I’m fine.”

His eyes narrowed slightly. “If I wasn’t already going to be late, I would not look past that fake smile you just gave me.”

I rolled my eyes. “I’m fine ... really.” I leaned in and pressed my lips to his, kissing him gently. I pulled away, continuing to hold his gaze. “Be careful tonight, okay?”

He smiled cockily. “I will be fine. You should worry about yourself more than you worry about me.” He nudged me gently, kissed me briskly, then stepped out.

I sighed, closing my eyes as I focused on showering. My mind was sorting through the mess the last couple of days had been. It seemed like chaos was constant. Every phone call was bad news, and I spent my nights narrowly keeping my friends alive. If the former executioner had done his job, Fredrick would’ve been taken care of long before he created the chaos in our community. The former executioners were so concerned with showmanship they forgot to make sure they were doing their damn jobs. I was going to do my job so there were no more unnecessary deaths ... I was going to become an executioner.
