Success is nothing more than a few simple disciplines practiced every day!
—JIM ROHN
Food fuels success or failure, and it starts with breakfast. What you eat first thing in the morning will determine how you feel all day. Starting your day with simple carbohydrates will quickly elevate blood sugar and insulin, trigger inflammation, create brain fog, and lead to cravings that you will fight for the rest of the day.
Having a thoughtful breakfast of protein, healthy fat, and smart carbohydrates will increase focus and energy. Also, it balances the hormones of metabolism that send the signal to your brain that you’re full and satisfied. You’ll be less likely to crave unhealthy snacks when you eat a Brain Warrior breakfast. Eat simple carbs and you will crave simple carbs and sugar. Don’t eat them, don’t crave them. It’s that simple.
Adjust your nutrition based on your demands. For example, if you’re an athlete, you need more high-quality fuel, especially carbs. But if you’re a keyboard warrior, focus more on protein for brain focus. Carbs will slow you down and make you thick around the middle.
Purchasing the highest-quality ingredients that are practical for your budget is important for your brain and body. For example, organic DHA-enriched eggs from pasture-raised chickens are higher in omega-3 fatty acids and don’t contain hormones and antibiotics that may be harmful. Also, berries and apples are best purchased organic when possible because they hold more pesticides than any other fruit. But if you are on a tight budget, buying nonorganic bananas and oranges might not be the end of the world because of the thick skin.
