Score Reading Exercise for Day 28

In this exercise, your task is to find the score (available on imslp.org) of Beethoven’s 11 Bagatelles, Op. 119 and read it while listening to the music (available on YouTube & streaming services at the time of publishing).

In the score, look out for several of these bar lines and repeat signs in action. Due to time constraints, some performers choose to ignore repeat signs. Keep a look out for that too!

Here are some suggestions as to what to pay attention to:

• Bagatelle 1: alternate endings, double bar line
• Bagatelle 3: repeat signs, dal segno al coda
• Bagatelle 4: alternate endings, repeat signs
• Bagatelle 5: two sets of alternate endings
• Bagatelle 6: two double bar lines
• Bagatelle 8: simple repeat signs
• Bagatelle 9: simple repeat signs
• Bagatelle 10: alternate endings
• Bagatelle 11: repeat signs

All the pieces, of course, end with a final bar line.
