All the enlightened cultures of the past and many sages of the present recognize the role the sun plays in getting us in touch with our soul.
We know our bodies need sun in order to maximize the vitamins and minerals we get from our food. Yet, we now spend close to 90 percent of our time in artificial light.
Numerous studies have shown the debilitating effects on many people of the absence of adequate sunlight. Medical science has recently acknowledged the existence of SAD (seasonal affective disorder), and the need for sunlight for certain personality types.
One of the simplest ways to brighten your mood is to step into the sunlight.
Brief—definitely not extensive—exposure to the sun’s rays is tremendously beneficial for our overall physical, mental, emotional health. But most importantly, linking with the sun increases our vitality and elevates our consciousness, thereby contributing to our inner growth.
Whenever you can, get ten to fifteen minutes of full exposure to the sun, either early in the morning or later in the afternoon. In winter, sit next to a sunny window to get a mini-sunbath.
Experiment with this. Connect with the sun every day for the next couple of weeks to see how beneficial it can be for expanding your inner awareness.
