30. Use your right brain mode

Much research has been done in recent years on the various levels of the mind, particularly the right brain mode, or the alpha level of consciousness, where we can tap into our creativity, get in touch with our intuition, enhance our thinking processes, and improve our performance in sports and other activities, among many other things. This is the level of the mind where artists, writers, and all great thinkers get their ideas. It is where we all work on problem solving and the creation of new perceptions and understandings.

Years ago I took a Silva Mind Control Seminar in which we learned how to create a “workshop” in our mind at the alpha level. We simply relaxed into the right brain mode and, using our imagination, created a space in our mind’s eye where we could go to work on problems of any type at the alpha level.

We learned to clear up headaches, find lost objects, and even get rid of infestations of ants! (Anyone who has tried these methods knows how effective they can be. Skeptics can continue to use Raid.)

The theory is that any information we need to do the work we want to do is available to us. We simply have to get into the practice of tapping into it.

You may already be using these techniques in your life. If so, think about how you might use them for your inner endeavors.

One of the things I did almost unconsciously when I started to go within was turn my workshop into an “inner sanctum.” Now I do almost all my inner work there. It’s where I listen, heal, create affirmations, enhance visualizations, and do my serious thinking, among many other things.

Going into the alpha level is very easy to do. One technique is simply to sit down, close your eyes, relax, and take a couple of deep breaths. Breathe quietly for a few minutes. You might find it helpful initially to count backward slowly from ten to one. You’ll begin to recognize a slight shift in your level of awareness, and you’ll know you’re in the right brain mode. Being effective there happens by intention and imagination.

After you’ve done this a few times, you’ll recognize the feel of the space and how to get there, and you can come and go at will. It is a safe and very powerful place for your inner operations.
