One of the benefits that comes from slowing down our lives is the ability to get back in touch with who we really are and what we’re doing here. It’s tremendously liberating to make that connection, but often, because of the demands of our work schedule and the complexities of family and social obligations, we keep forgetting.
Get into the habit of using the events of your day to remind yourself of the inner realizations you are starting to get a sense of during your quiet times, and to remind yourself to connect with your soul. You can use any circumstance or happening of the day to bring yourself back to the inner you.
When you wake up in the morning, remember. When you brush your teeth, remember. When the water boils for tea, remember.
When the phone rings, remember. When you are stopped at a stoplight, remember. When you sit down to a meal, remember.
When you get upset, remember. When you have a headache, remember. When the kids are cranky, remember.
When you get into bed at night, remember. When you fall asleep, remember.
