COLLECTED PROPHECIES OF SEER ANNASACH

CHAPTER 16—THE CITY OF CHALLAID

Such a place, born in the darkness of a frozen winter morn, and to return unsought, punished for a spirit of wantonness undimmed by the touch of places beyond. On the stone where the first man stood so shall stand another to herald the slip of the sun to ever darkness.

This hill will be riven asunder and men will step inside and such men will disappear from this place.

In this place a prince will be loved by all men, his destiny to sit upon the stone. In the street where I lay in arms a man of peace will strike this prince down with a blade, and mourning will follow.

The last stone of Dubhan Abbey to fall will be the last stone of Challaid to fall, and will be the end of this place.

On the day that greed so holds the rulers of Challaid that true friends are dismissed and distant needs ignored then the punishment shall see the mouth of the loch dry to nothing and this place will have no route to the world, to be forgotten.

A man shall see the edge of the world, and from this evil place bring home with him the devil’s laugh, and it shall fill the mouths of the young and the old and will leave no house silent of its horror.

The wealth of kings shall reside in Challaid, but the blood of any that sits upon it shall turn to poison.

The blood of Challaid’s brother will poison the world, bringing man from millions to thousands and hastening the dark end.

That the city of Challaid shall stretch beyond the mountains and reach to the lowlanders, and that all men from all the world shall seek it.

Buildings of the city shall rise above the hills and look out to the sea.

Ten score of ships will pour into the loch, thick that the water will be covered and the waves pushed down, the loch made wooded land, and on these ships will be the warriors of three nations, and with coldness to their bones will attack Challaid and its people with axes.

The hero of this place will ensure the glory of the king and country with the blood of people unseen, in lands of power and wealth.

When men of the north hold Challaid to their order winter shall last four years and no crops will grow.

The last man of Challaid will stand on the bank, alone in the place he loves most as the cold water rises around him and he will not move. The water will rise to cover his mouth and then his nose, as he falls below the water at the end of us.

Seer Annasach MacFie was born around 1380 and died in 1426. He was born in Challaid and spent the early part of his life there. He left around 1400, by which time he was already gaining fame for his ability to see events of the future, traveling Scotland to share his gifts with the great houses of the day, including many royals. He was considered a great showman, never revealing his true first name, his long beard and bright blue eyes striking, and his public appearances were said to always draw a crowd. Some of his predictions were characterized by self-interest, suggesting favorable treatment for those who had helped him such as the monks of Dubhan Abbey and the Lord of the Isles, and a hatred of the Scandinavians that had unknown origins. Many of his predictions were petty and inconsequential, relating to the fortunes of the great houses that were offering him shelter at the time, but of those that were genuine he was said to be a passionate guard, going as far as threatening, and perhaps even carrying out, acts of violence against those who doubted him.
