It’s in There

The Bible is the best book you will ever read! If you don’t believe me, you should find one, open it, and start reading. Each page is full of exciting, fascinating, and true stories. The kinds of stories that make you want to spend time with the author and tell your friends about how amazing and awesome it was! Stories that teach you how to be a better friend, a helpful sibling, a grateful daughter, and a happy girl!

But here’s the best part. The Bible is not just full of stories; it is full of God’s words. They are not just stories written by people for fun or pretend, but the Bible is a book from God for your life. It is here to teach you more about Him.

There are answers to your hardest questions, advice on how to handle difficult times, and solutions to every problem. You will never experience anything that God has not already talked about in the Bible!

If you are the kind of girl who likes scientific adventures, you should start right at the beginning with Genesis. After all, God is the creator of the universe! Do you enjoy reading about friendships? Then open up the book of Ruth and read how Ruth and Naomi became best friends during a difficult time and how nothing could destroy their relationship. If you want to read stories of true love and risky adventure, then make your way to the New Testament and open up to Acts and Romans. There you will read about Paul and how his love for Jesus sent him on a journey with many twists and turns.

Actually, no matter what book of the Bible you turn to, you are reminded of how much God loves you and how much He is willing to do to you, for you, and through you when you choose to follow Him! He wants you to know Him, enjoy Him, and love Him.

The Bible is God’s book to you. It’s not too big or too long. Find a quiet spot. Read carefully and turn the pages one at a time. Your Bible ends with the book of Revelation, but God wants to continue His story in you! If you already read your Bible, I encourage you to continue reading and looking deeper into what God is saying. If you have never opened your Bible, why don’t you begin an amazing journey and start today? If you don’t own a Bible, who can you ask to help you find one? Can your mom or dad help? Or is there someone in your church, school, or neighborhood who might have an extra one?

Which book of the Bible will you start reading today?

Dear God, thank You for the Bible! Will You help me learn about You from the stories written in it? Help me to always remember that the Bible is my special book written by You to me! In Jesus’s name, amen.

Maybe you have never read a Bible or maybe you read it all of the time. Either way, here are five Bible reading tips to help you!

1. Starting from the beginning of a book, like Genesis or Matthew, will help you better understand the entire book.

2. A study Bible is one that has helpful notes, facts, and sometimes even maps and timelines that can give you better understanding if you are confused.

3. Reading along with a friend, either together or just at the same speed, can help you to stick with it and get the most out of your reading. If you know your friend is going to be reading the same thing as you on the same day, you are more likely to make sure that you read as well!

4. Make sure to take notes. Write down your questions. If you see a verse that you think God might be using to help you or remind you of something, make sure to underline it or write it down.

5. Psalm 34:8 says, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” God is telling us to taste, or try out, His Word. That means to not only get to know it but use it in your life. With every verse you read, ask God to help you make changes in your life that honor Him and grow you to be more like Jesus.
