Do you know what it means to be adopted? Maybe you have a friend that has been adopted or maybe you are even adopted yourself!
Adoption is really special. When someone is adopted they are selected to be a part of a new family. That person now has loving parents and possibly even new brothers and sisters. They even have new grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
You see, being adopted changes everything. A person who is adopted goes from having no family to having a huge family and all the love and benefits that come with it. When you are adopted it is as if you were always a part of the new family that you have joined.
If you are God’s child then you have been adopted too! The Bible tells us that when we trust Jesus as our Savior, He adopts us into His family. God becomes our Father and we become His child. And just like being adopted into a family, as a child of God, you get new brothers and sisters. Remember, He has other children just like you!
Ephesians 1:5 says that God “predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.” God wants you to celebrate with Him that you are a part of His family. When families adopt children it makes them really happy to bring a new child into their home, and God is no different. Remember, He invented adoption and put it in our hearts!
If you have nothing else to celebrate today, remember that you can always celebrate God making you His child!
Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus so I could become a part of Your family. I feel so special and grateful that You chose to adopt me. Never let me forget that I am Your child! Help me celebrate and show others how great it is to be a part of Your family. In Jesus’s name, amen.
