When you think of love, do you think of smiley faces, twinkly eyes, lots of laughing, and happy conversations?
Love is super easy and fun when the people that you love are kind and generous. But what about people who are not really that kind? Do you love them? Do you have to?
The answer is yes. God wants you to love everyone, not just the people who are nice to you and love you back. This means that you should love the girl in school who makes unkind comments and gives you mean looks. You should also love the teacher who mistreats you. You should even love people you don’t know. God wants you to love them all. After all, every person on this earth is His precious creation.
God’s love is different from others’. It’s the kind of love no one deserves. Nice people don’t deserve it and neither do mean people, but He still gives it out to everyone! You can’t earn God’s love by behaving a certain way or doing certain things. He loves you just because He does.
If you don’t have to earn God’s love, then should other people have to earn yours? In John 13:34-35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
God’s love is for everyone. His love changes people. It makes sad moments feel better and it teaches you how to make wrong things right. Everyone needs to know this type of love. Decide to love everyone today and ask God for the strength that it will take!
Dear God, thank You for loving me. Will You help me show others Your love today? Help me love everyone because You do! In Jesus’s name, amen.
