Have you ever played the trust game? This is when you stand in front of someone with your back to him or her, cross your arms, and fall backward into their arms and hope they catch you! If you have never done this before, be sure to ask an adult before you try it! The trust game is a lot of fun—well, as long as you trust or believe that the person standing behind you will catch you! It is not so fun if you cannot trust them because you may actually hurt yourself when you fall.
What if God was the person standing behind you? Would you trust that He would catch you or would you be too afraid to fall?
Let me give you some good news. You can always trust God. Sometimes it may feel like you are falling backward and are headed for the ground, but do not be afraid. God will not let you fall.
Trusting God is hard because you do not always know or understand what He is doing or what He has planned for you. It may seem like He is not standing there, but trust Him anyway! God always takes care of you.
Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” It is impossible for you and me to understand or think like God. He always has a plan better than anything you can even imagine! Trust Him with your entire heart and with every part of your life. You can trust that God will help you to choose good friends. You can trust that He will help you pass or do well on a test or in a job. You can also even trust that when things look or feel bad, God is waiting, ready to catch you! Fall into His arms and trust that He will be with you and help you no matter what!
Dear God, I am so glad that You are always ready to catch me. Help me to feel safe and know You are there for me, even when I don’t see You. In Jesus’s name, amen.
