If you could guess how many people you see in a day, what would you say? You can start with your best girlfriends, add your classmates, and keep on going from there! You really can count if you want to, but I think the answer to the question is…a lot!
If you talk to your friends every day, you probably know a lot about their lives. You know when they are sad and when they are really happy about something. You also know if they need help or advice.
What do you do when your friends decide to tell you about their problems? Hopefully you listen to them and try to help them feel better, but God wants you to do even more than that. God wants you to do something really big for the people you get to talk to. Do you know what that is? God wants all people to know Him, and He wants to use you to help make sure that happens!
One of the most important things you can do for your friends is to pray for their relationship with God. It is also the most important thing you can do for people you don’t even know! If you’re not sure what to say, try repeating the words of Paul when he prayed for people in a place called Ephesus:
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people” (Ephesians 1:17-18).
Isn’t that the best prayer to pray for someone else? What a good prayer to pray for your best friends and for everyone else! Today, pray that your friends and all people would get to know God better!
Dear God, thank You that I can talk to You about anything and everything. Remind me to pray for my friends and others who need to know You better. In Jesus’s name, amen.
