Author’s Note

Where do I begin with these two characters? Let’s start with Hannah. She’s made a life for herself without Zeke, though she suffered over his loss. But she’s proud of what she’s built and she hardly thinks about him now. Then he comes back. And infuriates her. Throws her off balance. And arouses her, even before she admits that in the café. But I liked Hannah and hope you did, too. She’s blinded by what Zeke did to her, and can’t forgive him. I’m not sure I could, either. I wouldn’t want to, but Zeke wears her down, which is unfair in many ways.

Yet, I can’t help but like Zeke. Yes, he comes crashing back into Hannah’s life. He’s brash and cocky at first. And she’s right later on when she tells him it had been sixteen days that he’s been in town and he expects her to change immediately. But he can’t help himself. Down deep, he’s become a different person and he thinks that’s enough. He’s a proud man who is humbled eventually by her resistance. He realizes now that demanding so much from Hannah is wrong. I guess he’s a cross between an alpha and beta male. Good guy and bad boy.

Did you think he should just leave her alone when she rejects him? I did at times. But he really endeared himself to me—his gentle southern ways, his dawning self-awareness, his acceptance that he has to win over her family. And it was fitting that Jim Manwaring is the one who hit the ball that smacked him in the face!

Ultimately, Zeke does overcome the obstacles Hannah throws in front of him, but with help from some unexpected sources. At the end, where she panics and kicks him out of her life, it’s her family that makes her see they were meant to be together.

And how about that family? They all change and grow in BE MINE AGAIN, except maybe for Andraya. You’ll see her story soon, but she’s more open than the others and doesn’t judge. I hope you liked catching up with the other girls. And boy, does Jim learn his lesson. Go, Karen, for forcing him to change.

Last of all, I had fun interweaving Reagan and Mason’s story with Hannah’s plot. I liked both of those characters, but it did seem as if they might not make it, either. I guess true love wins out for all of them.

Next up Andraya’s story. She is my favorite sister, I think.

Enjoy The President’s Daughters!

Best, Kathy
